Staff Profiles

Carol Shade

Carol Shade is an Annual Filing Season Preparer (AFSP) certified by the IRS and listed as a preparer on the IRS website. She is the founder and sole proprietor of Ninilchik Taxes & Accounting specializing in income tax preparation and bookkeeping. She renews her certification every year, by attending the required tax courses and passing the required test.

Carol moved to Dillingham Alaska from Washington in 1977 and spent over 30 years living there and working her way up from an administrative assistant to a Finance Director in the governmental and nonprofit sector when she retired. Carol attended the University of Alaska while working and graduated with a Bachelors of Business Administration with and emphasis in Accounting.

In addition, as a small business owner with her husband for the last 30 years, she is familiar with the needs of the small business owner when it comes to taxes and accounting. She and her husband also owned and operated a commercial fishing operation in Bristol Bay for over 30 years and she prepared the taxes for that industry until she and her husband retired and moved to Ninilchik on the beautiful Kenai Peninsula.

Carol retired as Finance Director from the City of Dillingham in 2015. Not being one to be idle she decided to work for H&R Block during the 2016 tax season. Finding that she liked working with people doing their taxes and helping them make sure they didn’t miss any deductions or credits that they were allowed, she decided to go into business for herself and founded Ninilchik Taxes & Accounting in 2017.

When not preparing taxes or working on her clients accounting, Carol loves to travel around the state of Alaska. She and her husband love to go to Seward and fish for Silvers. Or just drive their RV around enjoying the beauty of the state that she made her home 40 years ago.

Carol is very easy to talk to and enjoys helping her clients. They continue to come back to her for their tax preparation and they contact here year-round if they have questions. Her clients enjoy her and appreciate her ability to be flexible and help them get their taxes done during the recent difficult times.
